A village and its authentic heritage

Villard-Reculas is a true mountain village nestled in the heart of the Oisans region. Connected to the Alpe d’Huez ski area since 1946, the village has preserved its authenticity, heritage, and peaceful atmosphere throughout the years.

In both summer and winter, its charming streets invite visitors to stroll between traditional chalets, old stone houses, and breathtaking views over the Romanche Valley and the peaks of the Oisans mountains. Facing south, the village also enjoys exceptional sunshine all year round.

As the first satellite resort of Alpe d’Huez, Villard-Reculas now offers privileged access to the 250 km of slopes of the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine, while maintaining the warm spirit of a human-sized mountain village.

Its history dates back to the 12th century, when the parish of “Ecclesia de Reculatis” was founded in the Eau d’Olle Valley. Rebuilt in 1757 after a fire, Saint John the Baptist Church still stands today as a testament to the village’s rich heritage.

It would also be impossible to mention Villard-Reculas without referring to the famous “Pas de la Confession” road. Suspended between cliffs and mountains, this historic road offers spectacular views and remains one of the most iconic routes in the Oisans region.

A destination for nature lovers and families alike, the resort charms visitors with its perfect balance of skiing, traditions, heritage, and mountain lifestyle.
